ARREST AND CHARGES TO BE PREFERRED IN GENRAL POST OFFICE CONTROLLED DRUGS RECOVERY. 

On Tuesday, 29 July 2025, officers from the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit, in collaboration with the Customs and Excise Department, intercepted a suspicious incoming shipment at the General Post Office, Castries. The package, originating from United States, was declared as food items but was found to contain eighty (80) rectangular bricks of suspected cannabis resin (hashish), each stamped “Made in California.” The total weight was 8.02 kilograms, with an estimated street value of three hundred and twenty thousand eight hundred ($320,800 EC) dollars. The drugs were seized, documented, and secured as exhibits.

On Wednesday, 6 August 2025, a General Post Office employee was arrested. Acting on this information, investigators executed a search warrant on the morning of Friday, 8 August 2025, in Millet. The search resulted in the seizure of electronics. The suspect was taken into custody and interviewed.

UPDATE

As the investigation progressed, Eldon Simon Renee was formally charged with Importation of Controlled Drugs under the Drug (Prevention of Misuse) Act of Saint Lucia and Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply, Fraudulent Evasion and Illegally Imported Goods under the customs act.
