Finalists Announced for the 2026 Soca and Calypso Monarch Competitions
(Castries – Monday, June 29, 2026) – The results are in, and after a riveting weekend of music, culture and
competition, the Carnival Planning and Management Committee has announced the finalists for the 2026
Groovy & Power Competitions and the Calypso Monarch Competition. The National Cultural Centre
welcomed hundreds of enthusiasts as the Friday, June 26 and Sunday June 28 semi-finals took place.
A whopping 40 performances were completed in the Groovy and Power Soca categories. Artists vied for a
spot in the finals of the Soca Monarch competition scheduled for Friday, July 10, 2026. The defending
Groovy Soca monarch is Nerdy while the Power Soca Monarchs are Dezral & Jardel. The artistes qualifying
for the finals are listed below in alphabetical order.

Nine calypsonians have advanced to the finals of the Calypso Monarch Competition following the semi-final
round held on Sunday, June 28.
Each contestant delivered two original compositions before the adjudication panel, with only nine
performers earning the opportunity to contest the national title. The finalists will now vie for the Calypso
Monarch crown and the distinction of unseating reigning monarch, Dezral.

The Groovy and Power Soca Monarch is scheduled for Friday, July 10, 2026 and the Calypso Monarch
competition on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The events will take place at the SAB Vigie. Tickets for both shows
are $60 and can be purchased from 4circlestickets.com, The Cell outlets island wide and Steve’s Barbershop
in Castries. Tickets are $80 at the gate.
