Four years after claiming third place on the Power Soca Monarch stage, the Canaries-born artist is back; and this time, he’s bringing the whole community with him.

When the Carnival Planning and Management Committee (CPMC) dropped the official Power Soca Monarch finalists list following a riveting semifinal weekend at the National Cultural Centre, one name carried special weight. Among the nine artists who earned their spot on the SAB Vigie stage on July 10, Dhirv 2 Funny, listed alongside collaborators Bronxx and Mata for their song “Mad People” made history as the first artist from the community of Canaries to qualify for the Power Soca Monarch Finals twice.

The artist first turned heads in 2022 when he made it to the finals with “Are You Dumb,” placing a remarkable third. It was a debut that sent shockwaves through a community not accustomed to seeing its own on Saint Lucia’s biggest soca stage. Now, four years later, he’s done it again.

“Grateful beyond words. Making the Power Soca Monarch Finals for the second time after 4 years is a blessing I don’t take for granted. I’m especially thankful to Bronxx and Mata for trusting me to be part of this incredible collaboration.”— DHIRV 2 FUNNY

Dhirv joins a fiercely competitive lineup for the 2026 Power Soca Monarch Finals with the defending champions, Dezral & Jardel. Here’s who’s coming for it:

★ Dhirv 2 Funny, first artist from Canaries to qualify for the Power Soca Monarch Finals twice.

Like so many artists who grew up watching the Power Soca Monarch from the crowd, Dhirv had his own hero who made the stage feel like something worth dreaming about. And in a full-circle moment, that very legend is on the 2026 finalists list alongside him… Ricky T, competing with “True Colour.”

“Ricky T the legend, use to watch all his performances,” Dhirv told us. To now share the same finals stage as the man who inspired him? That’s a chapter worth writing about.

But beyond the personal milestone, what moves Dhirv most is what this moment represents for Canaries; a community whose young people deserve to see themselves reflected on the biggest stages the island has to offer.

“Being the first artist from Canaries to reach the Power Soca Monarch Finals twice means more to me than words can express. This isn’t just a personal achievement, it’s a win for my entire community. I want to say congrats to the other artists from Canaries who made it to the finals for their first time. I hope it shows every young person in Canaries that your dreams are valid no matter where you come from.”— DHIRV 2 FUNNY

“I’m proud to carry my village’s name on one of the biggest stages in Saint Lucian music,” he added, “and I hope this is just the beginning of many more artists from Canaries making history.”

With the Power Soca Monarch Finals set for Friday, July 10 at SAB Vigie, the anticipation around “Mad People” is building fast. For those wondering what the stage has in store, Dhirv’s words paint the picture clearly.

“From me, you can expect 100% every time I step on stage. I’m honored that Bronxx and Mata trusted me to be part of this song and together we cooking something special for the finals. My job is to bring my energy, my passion, and my best performance.. and I know we’re going to give the crowd a performance for the books.”— DHIRV 2 FUNNY

The village of Canaries is watching. And this time, the whole island will be watching right along with them.
