Double Triumph, Tribe of Twel Sweeps King and Queen of the Bands
It was a sight to behold at the King and Queen of the Bands Competition on Monday July 13 2026. 12 queen contenders and 9 kings gave a dazzling display of artistry and craftmanship as they vied for the premiere costume title in Lucian Carnival.
In the end, the theme and storytelling through art, by Tribe of Twel captured the King and Queen of the Bands title as well as first runner up in both categories. The designs of Nubia Brand of the Blue Nile and Montezuma Guardian of the Aztec Gold were grandiose in design and a visual masterpiece. The bands participating in the King and Queen of the Bands competition were Xpressions Band, Xuvo, ribe of Twel, Fuzion, Royalites Extreme, and Island Tribe. The public will have an opportunity to view all of the costumes in this year’s competition again, during the parade of the bands on Monday, July 20, and Tuesday, July 21.
